Abstract

This Record Group comprised publications compiled by National Socialist movement before and after 1933 (when the NSDAP became a ruling political party of Germany).  A number of publications can be charcterized as popular Nazi propaganda narratives of antisemitic and vigorously anti-Jewish content. The other publications relate to the typical nationalistic glorification of German nation. A separate group of publications can be regarded as analitical works discussing the theory of National Socialism, for example the three volumes entiltled The National Socialist Revolution. Hitler's Mein Kampf is also included in this record group. Additionally, there is several publication of fictional character. This record group also contains a number of anti-Nazi monographs narrated in the earlier years of the Nazi regime in Germany and afterwards in Europe and in the United States. The authors were largely of German-Jewish descent.

Scope and Contents of the Materials

This Collection comprises thirty documents in the form of publications, such as collective works, monographs, albums, pamphlets and fiction literature. Dates of publication vary from the early 1920s to mid-1940s. Several editions are regarded as theoretic narratives, exploring the nature of German national ideology within the framework of the National Socialist doctrine. This record group also contains a number of anti-Nazi monographs narrated in the earlier years of the Nazi regime in Germany and afterwards in Europe and in the United States. The authors were largely of German-Jewish descent.

Collection Historical Note

National Socialism as ideology in theoretical terms exhibits the characteristic features of an extreme nationalism. Hitler's Mein Kampf laid a foundation for the further political development of the German nationalism. Over the course of 1920s and early 1930s this ideology embraced racial geopolitical components. Overall, the theoretical premise of the German National Socialism combined the paradigm of Italian fascism with the geostratigical revisionism of post-Versailles European realities. Antisemitism and eventual emphasis on the sanation of German nation from the "foreign, hostile and parasitic Jewish element" had become one of the corner-stones of German domestic and foreign politics.
