Scope and Contents: Synagogues in Europe, northern Africa, Asia, and elsewhere at the end of the 19th century and in the beginning of the 20th century, were built in various embodiment of Historism. This style was popular in public building. Largely, it resembled historic style of Europe and Asia, for example neo-gothic, neo- classical style, Moorish style, as well as other neos style of East, Central, West Europe, northern Africa, and colonial styles of the British Empire.
