Historical Note: Local auxiliary police subordinated to the German police and security forces and to the German civil and military administration in the occupied and controlled territories. Local auxiliary police forces were established by the local collaborating authorities. Establishment of a local police force was also a subject of German approval. Although, formally under the auspices of local ethnic administration, practically the auxiliary police composed of the local population was subordinated to the German civil and military administration.
