This document is a headshot photograph of Leopold Engleitner, a Jehovah's Witness arrested for his beliefs.
As an affirmed Jehovah's Witness, Austrian Leopold Engleitner was subject to imprisonment, first by the Fascist Dolfuss regime, and by the Nazi Regime throughout the war. Engleitner was most notably imprisoned in Buchenwald, Niederhagen, and Ravensbruck Concentration Camps. Surviving until 2013, Engleitner was the oldest surviving Austrian male Holocaust survivor.

This document is a photograph of the diplomatic meeting between British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, and Nazi German head of state Adolf Hitler, meeting in Berlin in 1938. The topic which called for a meeting became what is known as the "Munich Agreement", an act of appeasement by the British which would offer Hitler portions of Czechoslovakia, known as the "Sudetenland", in order to maintain peace in Europe.
The Munich Agreement was held on 29 Septmeber, 1938.

Varian Fry is best known for his efforts to rescue anti-Nazi refugees from German-occupied France, or Vichy France, from 1940-41. After German occupation in France, Fry was sent to France by the Emergency Rescue Committee, a private American relief organization, to conduct document forgeries and other actions that would allow for the emigration of many labeled as anti-Fascists, Jewish and non-Jewish, enemies of the Nazis.
In his effort, Fry aided the refuge of around 2,000 persons, including distinguished artists and intellectuals.

This photograph should not be mistaken for a pro-Nazi rally that was held in New York City in 1939.
The rally was planned after purely visible suppression of Jewish rights in Germany were publicized in the United States.

The SS St. Louis, filled with Jewish refugees at the start of World War II, set for the Americas in 1939 with the goal of being received by Cuba and the United States. However, a breakdown in negotiations brought the Jewish refugees aboard SS St. Louis back to Europe in June, 1939.
