Marian Dabrowski, publisher, journalist and public figure (1878 -- 1958) | Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust

Marian Dabrowski stuied philosophy at Jagiellonian  University in Cracow. His teaching job did not last long. Marian Dabrowski began a career  in journalism. In 1908 -- 1910, he worked as editor of Glos Narodu (People's Voice). In 1910, he founded a new daily with circulation over 180,000 copies. He established a publishing corporation based on Ilustrowany Kuryer Codzienny (Illustrative Daily Herald), all together there were 11 publishing houses in this Corporation. In 1932, the monetary value of his corporation amounted 1.5 million dollars, the corporation employed 1400 people of various professional profile.

In 1921 -- 1935, Dabrowski was a member of Polish parliament, Sejm, first the PSL "Piast" (Polish Peolple's Movement) "Piast," then from the BBWR (Non Partisan Block of Cooperation with Government). After 1926, he became a supporter of the Camp of Sanation (Sancja) or Pilsudki's camp. When the Second World War began, Dabrowski was in France. He did not return back to Poland and remained in emigration until the end of his days. His 19 years in the United States were marked by poverty and misfortunes.
