A German military map of Ternopil, or Tarnopol, and the surrounding region, belonging to Nazi-German military Captain Anton Karl. This map was most likely used in preparation for the Nazi-German military’s campaign in Eastern Europe, in this case the Ukraine. It is a detailed topographical map with markings, such as the town of “Kamionki” underlined in red, perhaps as a potential military target or occupied zone. Nazi Germany invaded Ternopil on July 2, 1941.
