Jack Boul (1927-) | Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust
Name: Jack Boul (1927-)
Historical Note: Jack Boul was born in Brooklyn in 1927, but spent the majority of his professional life as an artist in Washington, D.C. His subjects and media vary, but include monotype drawings, paintings, and small sculptures. He was a U.S. soldier in WWII, and was profoundly affected by photos of concentration camps he saw in Italy at the end of World War II. The stark images of Boul's Holocaust series are his attempt to convey the horror of the concentration camps and to memorialize this dark moment in history.
