Wladyslaw Wojcik, a person who found the first part of the Ringelblum Archive (1950 -- 1978) | Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust

Wladyslaw Wojcik, a construction technician, discovered in the former territory of the Warsaw ghetto two milk cansiters filled with the documents of the Ringelblum Archive. It was on December 1, 1950. Mr. Wojcik passed these documents to the Jewish Historical Insititute in Warsaw. He also passed to this Institute the Diaries of Chaim Aron Kaplan (of prewar and wartime). These diaries were smuggled out of the ghetto and concealed by Wojcik's cousin.

At a later time Mr. Wojcik emigrated to the United States. His poor healt and financial predicament had not been properly addressed by the local and international Jewish communities. Mr. Wojcik largely was ignored and denied medical and financial assistance.
