Abstract

Nash Prapor (Our Flag), an illustrated newspaper published by the consortium Ukrainian Press, owned and managed by the publisher Ivan Tyktor (Tiktor). It was a socio-politically oriented periodical, ideologically charged by Ukrainian national aspiration for an independent state.

Scope and Contents of the Materials

Nash Prapor published materials on

Reportages reflecting the news of world politics;

Articles on Ukrainian public life in the region and abroad;

Articles on economics themes;

Notes from rural and urban communities;

Literary, theatric and sports reportages;

Interesting feuilletons;

Illustrations from the region and from abroad

Collection Historical Note

Nash Prapor generally focused on the situation in German, where National Socialist came to power in 1933. A number of articles relate to the Holodomor (Famine) in the Soviet Ukraine in 1933 and 1934.

The periodical followed and analyzed European politics the situation in Ukraine in the light of a regional geo-politics.

Since 1935, the periodical seriously alludes to geo-political tensions and inevitability of a new world war.

Biographical Note

Ivan Tyktor, political and public figure, publisher and onwer of the largest Ukrainian press consortium Ukrainska Presa (the Ukrainian Press). He founded and run several well-acepted Ukrainian periodicals, Novyi Chas (the New Time), Nash Prapor (Our Flag), Narodna Sprava (The People's Cause), Komar (Mosquito), Dzvinochok (Bellflower) and others.
